LJ Integrated MBA (School of Management Studies) organized a one-day seminar focusing on "G20: Digital Transformations and Sustainable Transitions," coinciding with India’s presidency of the G20 from December 2022 to November 2023. The G20, a leading forum for global economic cooperation, provides a platform for discussing crucial economic issues. The theme for India’s G20 presidency, "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" or "One Earth. One Family. One Future," aims to guide collaborative efforts on global challenges. The seminar highlighted two key tracks: digital transformations and sustainability transitions, with industry experts sharing insights into these areas.

The first half of the seminar centered on digital transformations, focusing on the growth of digital public infrastructure. Speakers such as Mr. Chintan Katira, Founder and CEO of Ascent Info Solutions, and Mr. Pratik Machchar, CTO at SilverTouch Technologies, discussed how technology is revolutionizing operations across global companies. They showcased examples from companies like Ikea, Shell, and Nike, demonstrating the use of software solutions to optimize operations and drive growth. Additionally, the session explored how Indian platforms like BBPS and Digilockers offer quick solutions to consumers, emphasizing the role of digital transformation in enhancing both public and business sectors. The discussion also touched on innovations like the ENAM platform, which is enhancing agricultural productivity in India, highlighting the country’s leadership in the digital space during its G20 presidency.

In the second half, the focus shifted to sustainability transitions, a critical theme under India’s G20 agenda. Mr. Hardik Shah, with over 25 years of experience, emphasized the need for a zero-waste economy and the importance of recycling to address climate change. He presented solutions for waste management and how businesses can benefit from a circular economy. His work encourages individuals and businesses to rethink their approach to resource use, promoting sustainable practices that could have a significant global impact. This session highlighted the potential for startups in the sustainability sector and the importance of shifting from artificial intelligence to natural intelligence to solve pressing environmental issues.

Dr. Janki Shah, a sustainability expert, furthered the discussion by addressing practical steps individuals can take to mitigate global warming and climate change. Drawing on her experience with the Centre for Environment Education (CEE), Dr. Shah emphasized the importance of educating communities, particularly in rural areas, about sustainable practices. She highlighted various initiatives aimed at empowering women, youth, and local communities to contribute to sustainability. Her work focuses on water management, biodiversity conservation, and the development of sustainable livelihoods, underscoring the role of education in fostering long-term environmental change.

Overall, the seminar provided MBA and BBA students with a deeper understanding of how digital transformations and sustainability initiatives can contribute to a better future. By learning from industry leaders and sustainability professionals, students were encouraged to explore opportunities in these critical sectors, helping to drive economic growth and environmental stewardship. The seminar reinforced India’s role as a leader in shaping global policy during its G20 presidency, fostering discussions that are essential for the development of both digital infrastructure and sustainable solutions.
