About this course
Mechanical Engineering stands as one of the most ancient and diverse engineering fields. Rooted in the application of Mechanics and Materials science, it encompasses the analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. This discipline revolves around the utilization of heat and mechanical power to create, produce, and operate machines and tools, spanning from monumental endeavors like constructing a rocket ship to intricacies as minute as an integrated circuit.
At LJU, the Department of Mechanical Engineering initiated both the Undergraduate program and Postgraduate programs (M.E). LJU extends specialized branches in mechanical engineering, such as CAD/CAM and Thermal Engineering, offering a comprehensive education in these areas.
The Mechanical Engineering Department has established partnerships with diverse industries and research organizations, spanning automotive to manufacturing sectors, fostering collaborative research endeavors on campus. Student chapters of prominent societies such as SAE and ISHRAE are actively present at the campus, providing students with valuable professional experiences. The department regularly organizes industrial training and bridge courses to enhance students' skills and knowledge. Furthermore, the department is closely affiliated with the L J Design Centre, offering technical training in mechanical design software like AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Solid Works, and ANSYS to enrich the students' learning experience.
Scope
Mechanical engineering graduates encounter boundless opportunities, being tasked not only with designing mechanical systems but also overseeing product testing, maintenance, and manufacturing processes. As they embark on their careers, these graduates can explore roles in various departments such as Research and Development, Production Analysis & Testing, Installation, Maintenance, and Design. Numerous multinational companies operating across diverse industries, including the Automobile, Aerospace, Steel Plants, Thermal Plants, Shipping, Mechatronics, and Robotics sectors, actively recruit mechanical engineering graduates.
