A Two Year Post Graduate Program for development professionals viz. Master of Science (MS) in Development Management is for those who want to be the change-makers; it is for those who want to strive to create an equitable and just society; it is for those ignited and innovative youths who think from the mind as a hardcore professional and execute from the heart as a person with lots of empathy for the disadvantaged, the last person of Mahatma Gandhi; it is for those who want to equip themselves with a right mix of knowledge, skill and attitude to make a professional career in the development sector; and, it is also for those who would like to dedicate themselves to social innovations and set up sustainable social businesses. Drawing an analogy from what Noble Laureate Muhammad Yunus of Grameen Bank of Bangladesh had said about the social businesses:
"If you have ever found yourself thinking, ‘I don’t like the way things are around me; it’s painful to live in a world where hunger, poverty disease, illiteracy, and unemployment afflict so many people; I want to see these terrible things disappear,’ then the social business may be part of your life's calling."
And so, maybe this program as well is a part of your life’s calling.
Program has been developed by well-known academicians and senior professionals
from the development sector itself. Unlike other programs that are around 1250
hours, this Master’s degree has a curriculum spanning 1500 hours, which gives
it an equivalence to a Master’s degree of any reputed foreign university. This
program also aims to develop well rounded, thorough professionals with strong
skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for working in the development field
and providing leadership in executing the projects ranging from the grass-roots
to policy formulation and advocacy, besides creating dynamic social
entrepreneurs. If you wish to gain insight and expertise into the living
conditions and survival strategies of those at risk of becoming excluded, and
want to become equipped to translate this insight into organizational policies
and strategies, then MS in Development Management could be a wise choice for
The duration of the programme is two years divided into four semesters. In all, the students will be imparted 1500 hours of inputs, unlike 1250 hours in most PG Programmes, to maintain equivalence with the foreign university in the US and Europe.
A graduation degree in any discipline like Agriculture, Arts, Commerce,
Science, Engineering, IT, Medical, Architecture, Agriculture, etc., with 50 per
cent marks. Some work experience of one-two years will be an added advantage.
Those who have appeared in their final year examinations can also apply.
However, admission will be granted subject to clearing their final examination.
Candidates with a professional degree like CA, CS, etc., are also eligible.
